Forthcoming events in aid of the BMV competition

The NCW through its Bice Mizzi Vassallo Music Competition has been sending its prize-winners to music courses abroad. This has been very encouraging for the young music students in Malta who meet their peers abroad, and the Bice Mizzi-Vassallo Competition has become the most prestigious and longest-lived competition in Malta.

The next edition will be held in October 2011 and preparations for it are already well in hand. However funds are running low and the Committe is organising two events in order to meet some of the expenses involved in its organisation.

  • October 15 2010: Concert by the prize-winners of the BMV competition 2009 . The concert presents these winners with an opportunity to showcase their musical talent and have the occasion to demonstrate the skills they may have acquired through their experiences of the music courses they attended in summer 2010. The concert is being held at St James Cavalier on Friday 15th October at 7.30pm. Entrance is by donations of 10 Euro made through one of the members of the Committee or through the NCW office.
  • November 13 2010: A Fund-raising dinner is going to be held at the Victoria Hotel, Sliema at 8pm. The price is 25 euro and includes a buffet menu of pasta, main course selection, dessert, coffee. Early booking is recommended . For booking please forward your details and money to NCW office.

The proceeds from these events will be used to finance future BMV competitions. The costs are numerous and with ever increasing talent in Malta, the committee is also seeking to increase the opportunities and prizes for the prize-winners. So we hope that NCW members as well as all music-lovers in Malta will support the two events:

We are also searching to create a database of teachers and interested candidates interested in news regarding the competition.

We already have a list however this is by no means comprehensive. Therefore if you wish to be included in this database, the committee would appreciate your contact details which may be forwarded to corinnebowman@gmail.com
