Grace Attard to represent Civil Society on MEUSAC Core Group

Following recent elections for representation of Civil Society on MEUSAC Core group, it has been decided that Grace Attard will fill in this post for one year from April 2009 to April 2010.
Grace Attard was nominated by the National Council of Women of Malta, of which she has been elected President for a second term, having previously served in the same post for the period between 1999-2004.

She is a member of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC – Group III)
focusing on external relations, social affairs and the internal market . Within the EESC she has also been involved in studies on immigration and asylum policies; working groups and discussions on factors facilitating access by women to economic and social life, the Euromed process, work-life balance and women in industry and intercultural dialogue among others. She has also been rapporteur of opinions related to gender equality

She is a member or on various Boards and Committees including
the General Interest Group within MEUSAC prior to EU accession;
the MCESD’s Civil Society Committee;
the Civil Society Forum
the Commission for the Promotion of Equality for Men and Women (NCPE);
the National Commission for the Monitoring Committee of the Single Programming Document – Structural Funds Intervention;
The National Information Society Advisory Council,
She has been appointed member of the Voluntary Organisations Council and is also sitting on a number of MEUSAC Sectoral Committees

Ms. Attard has specialised in career guidance and studied other areas for training
including Personal and Social Development, media education, community substance abuse prevention services and parental skill courses. She is a teacher by profession where she has worked at secondary level in English, History and Media Education. She has been editor of the newsletter of the International Council of Women and regularly contributes to local newspapers on various issues
